Music Generation Mayo is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for children and young people (ages 8-18) to be a part of the “We Are Music Generation Mayo! – Youth Music Festival Council.” This unique council will play a vital role in shaping and advising on the upcoming youth music festival, slated for April and May 2024.
About the Festival: “We Are Music Generation Mayo!” is set to be an extraordinary celebration of youth music-making, showcasing the rich tapestry of musical traditions across County Mayo. Led by a dynamic council of 12 children and young people, the festival aims to highlight not only Music Generation Mayo programs but also various youth music initiatives throughout the county.
Why Join the Festival Council: As a council member, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to contribute your voice, ideas, and creativity to the festival’s planning and execution. This is a chance to represent your peers, influence the event’s design, and ensure it reflects the diverse musical and cultural landscape of County Mayo.
Who We’re Looking For: We are seeking representation from a wide range of children and young people across County Mayo. Whether you’re passionate about traditional Irish music, pop, rock, classical, or any other genre, we want to hear from you. We encourage applicants from different geographical areas, cultural backgrounds, and musical interests to ensure a truly inclusive and representative council.
How to Apply: To apply, please submit a brief statement introducing yourself, sharing your age, general location, musical interests, and explaining why you would like to be a part of the Youth Music Festival Council. Be creative and let your personality shine!

Application Deadline: December 1st
Selection Process: A selection committee will review all applications and select 12 individuals who represent the diversity and passion of County Mayo’s young musicians. Successful applicants will be notified by December 8th.

The “We Are Music Generation Mayo! – Youth Music Festival” is a festival taking place over April and May, 2024. It is a celebration of youth music making in County Mayo, led by a council of twelve children and young people advising and working alongside the Mayo Music Development Officer and Musician Educators, working in partnership with youth representatives from the many youth music initiatives taking place in Co. Mayo. “We Are Music Generation Mayo! – Youth Music Festival” is funded by The Create, Collaborate, Celebrate Fund, Co-funded by Music Generation/Arts Council and the Department of Education.
